Affordable Condos on the South End
If you want to be close to the beach but you don't want to spend a lot of money, the South End has what you need. The inland condos here epitomize the "bang for the buck." Nowhere can you own a property in a luxury destination, close to the beach, close to a boat landing, close to the Gulf for such low prices. We think the South End inland condos represent some of the best values in Florida. If you're looking for an investment and price appreciation, you can't go wrong.
Homes and Lots on the South End
The South End is certainly one of Marco Island's more luxurious neighborhoods. While the homes and lots bring a premium here, the old adage, "you get what you pay for," definitely applies. The South End is essentially a giant cul-de-sac. The only people here, meant to come here. There is no thoroughfare - no body passes through the South End to get anywhere. This means traffic is extremely light, even in season.
Many of the properties on the South End are just a short stroll to the beach. The southern beach access is located between Cape Marco and Apollo and is easy to get to by foot or bike. Also, Marco Walk shops and restaurants, located at the corner of Collier and Winterberry are just a few minutes away.
The homes and lots are all "water-direct" on this part of the island so bigger boats and sailboats can travel unencumbered by bridges.
Boating and Fishing From The South End
As we mentioned, the South End is entirely "water-direct." Without pesky bridges to limit the size of your boat, you're free to buy that sailboat or big fishing boat you're dreaming of. There are too many boating condos to mention here, but our boating condo comparison chart will educate you with the important details like dock type and maintenance fees.
Homeowners on non-waterfront property need not worry. Caxambas Park Boat Landing is a quick way to get out in the water. There are no marinas or boat storage of any kind on the South End, but gas is available the boat landing.
Obviously, the Gulf is a big draw for fishermen, but Marco Island is famous for the backwater fishing among the endless Ten Thousand Islands. These waist-deep waters are in your back yard on the South End and they're teeming with Snook, Mackerel and Dolphin (Mahi Mahi). Dolphins (the mammals) are out there competing for your dinner but that makes it fun.
South End Activities
When you live on the South End, you really don't have to leave the neighborhood if you don't want to. After enjoying your swimming pool and boat, you have Marco Walk for the nighttime fun. Restaurant's including Italian, Mexican and Steak places are all first-rate. Formally Sasso's, La Tavola offers very tasty Italian dishes.
There are beachfront dining options and miniature golf on the South End, too.
Dolphin watching is perhaps no better than on the South End. The condos overlooking Caxambas Pass offer the perfect vantage point for observing Dolphin families cruise by. It's a thrill to see baby dolphins playing in the backyard.
